Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
