Formal charges have been brought against two men related to a suitcase robbery where a suspected capsaicin spray caused injuries at London's Heathrow Airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two counts of robbery and charges for administering a noxious substance, authorities have stated.

The charges follow an probe of an attack at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases taken after getting out of a car park lift, police said.

A young child was caught up in the incident during the incident. Five people required hospital care and were eventually allowed to go home.

This event – described by police as was a standalone event and deemed non-terroristic – led to train delays and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
